The Illinois Climate Action Plan (iCAP) is the University of Illinois' strategic sustainability plan for achieving carbon neutrality, or net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, by 2050 if not sooner. iCAP 2020, which I personally contributed to, contains 56 SMART objectives organized into 8 key themes: Energy, Transportation, Land & Water, Zero Waste, Education, Engagement, Resilience, and Implementation.
Bringing together students, faculty, and staff from across campus, I led two project implementation teams (Sustainability Engagement and Zero Waste) where I was able to:
Design and evaluate climate risk management performance targets and strategies
Lead campus stakeholder committee to spearhead sustainability and resilience programs
Initiate projects to eliminate plastic bottles from campus vending machines and implement a sustainability general education requirement
